What is an FFL 07?

We are an FFL 07 Manufacturer - this the enables us to build complete, custom firearms. We are not a firearms dealer and cannot do individual transfers. We do not have a physical location for customers to visit. All transfers and background checks must be conducted by a licensed FFL 01 dealer. Since we were recently issued a license in 2021 and not all sources of firearms and parts are comfortable shipping to New Jersey without speaking to us first, we are more than happy to accommodate.

Do you have a shop / storefront?

No, at this time we do not have a store and in-person transactions are prohibited due to local zoning restrictions. We partner with local dealers and provide gunsmithing and compliance services as well as stocking complete firearm builds with Skip’s Outdoors in Stockon, NJ and Tactical Training Center in Flemington, NJ.

How does remanufacturing work?

Remanufacturing is the process of changing the classification of a firearm from one type to another. This is most often a pistol to a non-NFA other firearm. Due to certain states’ restrictions, we provide this service to make firearms compliant with the local laws and legal for dealers to transfer to individuals. We are a licensed manufacturer, and only an 07 FFL manufacturer can legal change the type of a firearm. This requires the modifications to be made and an engraving of our business name to be made on the firearm. We provide letter with each remanufactured firearm that explains the type of firearm and the compliance work that was completed.

AOW vs non-NFA Other Firearm

We build and remanufacture firearms to meet the requirements of an “other firearm” by ATF and New Jersey definitions.  This is not a rifle or pistol and is not subject to the registration under the National Firearms Act. Other firearms are NJ compliant because of the pistol brace (or lack of a stock), vertical foregrip, and an overall length longer than 26”. An AOW is the NFA version of a non-NFA other - where the firearm cannot have a stock, and must be designed to be fired with two hands, but not shouldered (ATF has ruled that incidental shoulder of a pistol brace does not make a brace a stock, but these laws have been known to change frequently. Do no consider this FAQ a permanent determination.

A rifle cannot become an AOW, only and SBR.

A pistol can become an AOW, however many rifle-style pistols are illegal in NJ and other restrictive states. We remanufacture pistols in others first.

And AOW must not have had a stock. It must be shorter than 26” overall length. It must be designed to be fired with 2 hands but not shouldered. It can have a pistol brace. Many of the remanufactured firearms we complete have pinned folding braces to acheive the overall length of 26” - these braces can be un-pinned to be foldable once approved as an AOW. This, in many cases, is how you reduce the overall length to shorter than 26”. You can also have a barrel extension added to a short firearm by pinning and welding it to the muzzle, which may be reversed once the form 1 is approved.

Process:

An “other” can become an AOW. This requires NFA registration and the payment to ATF in the amount of $200. You will need to fill out the eform 1 on eforms.atf.gov and mail in a packet with photos and fingerprints completed. This is after you have taken possession of the firearm. Superant Arms does not facilitate this process, and is not responsible for firearms modified by customers after transfer. You are responsible to know the NFA laws.
